The project will connect the New Lubbesthorpe Sustainable Urban Extension (NLSUE) housing development to the west of Leicester with the road network in the east.
The 52-metre span bridge will be built from composite steel and reinforced concrete with a pier located in the M1 central reserve. The project also includes the construction of approximately 350 metres of two lane single-carriageway road, foot and cycle ways.
Balfour Beatty was awarded the contract through the Midlands Highways Alliance Framework.
Equib Planning were commissioned to produce the tender programme for Balfour Beatty for the construction of a new road bridge across 10 lanes of the M1 near Lubbersthorpe in Leicestershire.
Our client’s internal planners maintained the programme throughout the early stages of the project and we were recalled several months into the scheme after significant delays to the utility works.
Our expertise in the analysis and presentation of the cause-and-effect of delays allowed us to quickly demonstrate to the Client and the Client’s planning manager how the programme had changed. Agreement to an extension of time claim and the award of the associated costs were obtained.
We were subsequently retained to oversee the ongoing programme production, maintenance and Compensation Event modelling for the remainder of the construction period.
