The £25M project significantly improves access into West Bromwich and cuts congestion for commuters. The work involved conversion of the junction between the A41 and A4031 into a grade separated interchange by the construction of an underpass formed between secant pile walls, two road over-bridges and a footway bridge. The formation of the scheme is below the water table and consequently temporary and permanent dewatering was required.

We were initially appointed by Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering to provide planning support mid-way through the construction works, principally to implement detailed monitoring of the construction programme to completion. Our on-site support role was subsequently extended to produce an accurate as-built programme through review and analysis of site diaries and records. We assisted Balfour Beatty in developing a Cl44 entitlement programme resulting from extensive on site changes and variations instructed by the client, in support of their negotiation of an extension of time on the Project with the Client (Sandwell Council).
